Thanks for the well-wishes :)

Choreboy, you've actually been very well behaved and you know it :) Besides, when all else fails I have my ice cream, and that goes a long way toward mitigating my current suffering.

Diane, thanks! I say drop kick the darned thing off the back porch!

Did they pack your mouth with the silly putty stuff? Yeah, that'd...LMAO on the Slimfast + ice cream! Yeah, that'd do it for sure. Figured you were kidding ;) As for the Greek yogurt, I'm already there. My smoothies include 4 oz. each of peach, mango, vanilla bean Greek yogurt, and nonfat milk (I just put the blender container on the food scale to weigh the ingredients out -- thank you Alton Brown!), along with 1/2 a large-ish banana. The only problem I'm having smoothie-wise is getting enough for myself because the kids keep hijacking them!

As for the after-effects, I don't think they truly end; I know I'm a different person than I used to be, and there are some things about me that will never be the same. I will say, though, that I am seeing the worst of my mental/ PTSDesque effects are mitigated as time passes. Last night I got triggered by something and although it wasn't a bunch of fun, when I looked back at the situation it was kind of good to realize how long it had been since I'd had that level of freakout, yanno?

I figure it'll all come out in the wash, in some way or other :)

*Edited to fix typos -- yes I am that OCD ;)Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14775794907218052899noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31322943.post-83701184764403405832012-01-09T11:57:55.169-05:002012-01-09T11:57:55.169-05:00You know I was kidding about the ice cream, right?...You know I was kidding about the ice cream, right? :)Lynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06562357076717349366noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31322943.post-89188485500942673612012-01-09T11:56:07.161-05:002012-01-09T11:56:07.161-05:00Sorry you've had to have surgery due to forced...Sorry you've had to have surgery due to forced lack of dental visits while you were with your ex. I feel your pain. Truly. In the seven years since leaving my ex, I have had one tooth die, fall apart, and the root surgically removed; four crowns; two root canals on the SAME tooth within a week of each other; several fillings; am looking forward to another SIX crowns; and I, too, found out that I now have periodontal disease. Prior to meeting my ex, I had a couple fillings and my gums and enamel were in excellent shape. Will the effects of the abuse never end?

Greek yogurt has twice the protein of regular yogurt, so try putting that stuff in your smoothies. And I have found that Slim Fast really isn't that bad if you blend a couple scoops of ice cream into it.Lynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06562357076717349366noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31322943.post-20427276248997392832012-01-08T15:37:49.959-05:002012-01-08T15:37:49.959-05:00Ninja, I think it's because "spicy" ...Ninja, I think it's because "spicy" can't be realistically calibrated, and things that are higher on the spicy scale can actually cause tissue/ skin irritation. If you've ever seen Man vs. Food when Adam is trying one of the spicy food challenges -- especially one that involves ghost chilis -- that can offer a good visual.

I had a mango/ peach smoothie yesterday and it didn't suck. Today I think I'll go with mango/banana. Also, I'm able to incorporate some "mushy" foods now and had a great sweet potato mash. Hopefully I can use this to add to my recipe bank.Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14775794907218052899noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31322943.post-15920842078844698252012-01-07T20:18:11.023-05:002012-01-07T20:18:11.023-05:00Smoothies are a good option, why can't you hav...Smoothies are a good option, why can't you have spicy stuff?
