What a Week

Out of the past six workdays, counting today, I have worked a full day exactly twice. That's it. Last Friday was getting the Gum Zombie to urgent care, Monday was a full workday, Tuesday was the Gum Zombie's trip to the orthopedist, Wednesday was Taking the Elder to the Dentist day, Thursday was Subject the Children to Dental Procedures day, and today, blessedly, I am once again planted at my desk for a full eight hours.

I have precisely 2 days and 1.5 hours of sick leave left. Until 2013.

It hasn't been a banner week for eating either, but I have managed to stay within my 1300 - 1350 calorie range by juggling food items here and there. It's not ideal, but at least I'm through it. And after work today I get to go home to my very nice Slow Cooker Provencal Chicken and Beans, fix the boys their food, then climb onto the bike again since I ended up taking my cardio rest day yesterday. Thank you, scheduling insanity!

I think I'm going to up my resistance on the bike. I won't say that 10 miles in 40 minutes is at all effortless (I absolutely sweat buckets), but a bit more effort would be a good thing. Or maybe I'll work on my Tabata intervals. Eh, I'll figure it out. Regardless, this evening there will be movement of the deliberate and fitness-enhancing type.

Now I just need to figure out what I'm cooking for next week, get the list made, and make sure I eat breakfast before tomorrow morning's grocery store run. We all have our limits, and mine snap when I'm confronted with endless food on an empty stomach.

Have a great weekend, all!

That's all you have, for the whole rest of the year?!?!?! I am so glad my 12-month period is coming to an end THIS month... and I get my vacation days restored to me. It sucks to get it early in the year because there's nothing left to use for the holidays at the end of the year, but it is what it is.

You've had a big week!!

Yeah, that's it. I start with 10 sick days, so... well, yep. 4 were blasted with the gum surgery, Tuesday was another full day, last Friday was most of the day, and there was a sick child issue way back at the beginning of January that also did me in.

I give!

On the plus side, I do have all my vacation days remaining (10 workdays) and they'll let me use those in lieu of sick days should the need arise. I'm hoping it won't, but I'm going to mostly hoard 'em just in case.

Man I'm sorry this week has been so nuts and that you've had to deal with sick kids so much. Hope that gets better. Good luck with the bike. I wish I was better about planning meals and such...good for yoU!

I<3 Tabatas! I just saw a cool little workout that's kind of tabata-esque in Oxygen Magazine yesterday. It used the treadmill, but no reason you couldn't substitute the bike. The use a barbell and tell you to do 12 reps of each of five exercises (the article uses military press, biceps curl, walking lunges, bent-over row, and a deep squat), then hope on the treadmill (or bike) for five minutes. Repeat the cycle twice for three times around the circuit and you'll get a decent, full-body + cardio workout done in < 30 minutes. It's snowing here now so if i decide to work out at home instead of braving the roads to the gym, I'm gonna give it a try (using the elliptical or the bike we have in the basement)...or maybe even jumping rope for the 5-min. cardio portions.

Effin' BLOWS about the sick time getting sucked up so early already. America is so out of whack with real life when it comes to health insurance. :(

Interval training just freaking rocks -- I love Tabatas myself, at least for the results I get, and that includes the total "I rocked this!" pump I have at the end, LOL.
